Daphne Miller, Renowned San Francisco Based Physician to be Hosted by Elizabeth's Gone Raw

February 21, 2011 Washington, DC – Elizabeth’s Gone Raw is proud to announce an intimate cocktail reception and 5 course raw dinner with one of the country's most forward-thinking physicians, Daphne Miller.  Daphne is a Harvard trained physician whose clinical work and writing focuses on the balance and interplay between biomedical medicine, traditional healing and the natural world.

On March 19th, Daphne will discuss “food vitality” both as described by traditional diets and by science.  More specifically, she will discuss the healing energy in raw foods, both through the lens of traditional cultures and through the lens of a microscope.

Elizabeth’s Gone Raw is hosting Daphne because of her commitment to healing diets and her ability to reach wide audiences with her style.  Daphne is the author of the critically acclaimed book, The Jungle Effect, in which she researches ‘cold spots’, places with low rates of chronic disease, specifically focusing on colon and breast cancer, cardiovascular disease and depression. Well known authors in their own right, Michael Pollan and Andrew Weil, MD have applauded Daphne’s work, and Elizabeth’s is particularly excited to host her in Washington.  In addition to The Jungle Effect, Daphne is a science and health writer and a contributing Washington Post columnist.

Reservations for Saturday, March 19th are limited to 95 people.  Doors will open at 5:30 for a Cocktail Reception, followed by a talk given by Daphne at 6:30.  Dinner will begin at 7:00pm.  Daphne Miller’s engagement is part of a year-long speaker series given by Elizabeth’s Gone Raw, highlighting innovators in the world of healing.   Elizabeth’s setting in downtown Washington provides a unique venue for people to gather in the midst of the most well-respected innovators in the world of health and healing, surrounded by the textures and flavors of the world’s most innovative cuisine, a raw, vegan 5 course menu.  Reservations are $85 until March 1st and increase to $110 after March 1st.

Please call 202-347-8349 or email reservations@elizabethsgoneraw.com to make a reservation.
